PERIOD 5 INFORMATION

Friday Period 5 (1:50pm - 3:00pm) provides the platform for larger scale collaboration within our teaching teams with out working focus being on improving curriculum and teaching quality. Friday's timetable and lesson structures have been altered to allow for this valuable collaboration time.

The school day commences slightly earlier on Friday's at 8:50am with student's moving straight to period one (no care class on a Friday). Lesson durations on a Friday have been reduced to 55 minutes and regular classes and formal instruction and earlier at 1:20pm on a Friday with studnets able to go home at this time.

We acknowledge that some families will not be able to facilitate their student(s) going home at 1:20pm. With that in mind, students unable to go home are supervised in a safe supportive environment and will be able to complete homework and study in a self-directed model until 3:00pm. In the remaining time on Friday's (Period 5 - 1:50pm - 3:00pm) our teaching teams engage in additional professional work focused on quality curriculum delivery and instruction for our students'.

To manage student attendance and safety this permission is for the duration of enrolment unless a new signed form is received. For this reason, we ask families to carefully consider what option best suits their household.

Where an emergency situation arises and your student either needs to stay until 3:00pm or be released early at 1:20pm, normal school policy applies and you will need to either provide a written note before school to the office or contact the office as early as possible on the day to arrange to collect your child.
